DAY 2 - REPORT

Day 2 of the Int'l 420 Class National Championship came with the promise of better and more predictable winds. When the racing commenced however, conditions were still light and patchy for the most part.

Sanjeev Chauhan & Rajesh Dhulaji of the INWTC continued their dream run in the series by taking 2 out of 3 guns today. His closest rivals Ayaz Sheikh & Sandeep Jain of the AYN and P Muthu & TS Chaturvedy also of the AYN are both paying the price for being overly aggressive in their starting and today was Ayaz's turn to be adjudged OCS. With the series having only the one discard, Chauhan's lead looks unassailable at the moment.

The OCS will hit Ayaz especially hard since he had sailed brilliantly in that race and only lost out to Chauhan in the last leg to finish second.

P Muthu however seems to be consolidating his second place overall with 2 second places and a gun in the 6th race. He will have to be careful in the remaining races since he like Ayaz has already used up his one discard.

The leaders in the Junior fray, P Shelar & Deepak Nalla of the INWTC are really sailing well and giving even the seniors a run for their money. They finished their day with 2 third places. However, Dilip Nalla, the youngest participant is quite close on their heels and is giving them no breathing space.

After the racing was concluded, the organisers in a wonderful gesture arranged for some young children to sail the boats back to shore so that they may get a chance to experience the thrill of 420 class sailing first hand.

One boat capsized while racing, but was expertly recovered and resumed racing immediately. Another boat was given a yellow flag (a warning from the jury) due to a contact she had with another boat.

Once again it was Chauhan's day all the way and he is clear ahead at the moment and looks set to retain his National title for the second year in a row.
